Zhuyin Week 4/30 Homework Assignment

Dear parents,

This week's homework assignment is as the following:

1. Mei Zhou Chinese Workbook Review (Page 121 - 126)


2. If your child has already completed above Review section, please have them work on Review (Page 139 - 144)

3. Recording assignment: Read and Record the Zhuyin Recognition slides. I'd like to listen to it before Saturday so I can help your child and correct them.

4. Extra Practice: Write all 37 Zhuyin symbols from ㄅ to  ㄦ once a day.

2. Recording assignment: Read and record lesson 16 on textbook page 98 - 99.

Zhuyin 3/26 Lesson 14

Dear Parents,
The results of 3rd exam have been handed out to you last week during the PT Conference. I'm very proud of this class. All children have improved significantly, and that includes their attention span,  focus, class participation, Zhuyin and Tone recognitions, handwriting, comprehension, etc. It's a pleasure to teach this class. Thank you for staying for some extra time after class for the conference.

Sorry for my late post this week. Please spare some time this weekend to complete the homework.

Reminder 1: There is No Class for April 9 and April 16 for Spring Break. I'll send out Homework assignments and Recording Assignments for those 2 weeks.

Reminder 2: 10-15 minutes a day on Chinese builds up a routine and encouragement of learning.

  2. Complete the extra practice material of Pinyin Practice, Pinyin 01 and Pinyin 02.
  3. Voice Recording: Read Zhuyin symbols from ㄅ to ㄦ (please use below chart as reference.)
Additional Note: Parent-Teacher Conference will be held at 3:50 in classroom. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedbacks on the class. It'll be about 20 min, and I look forward to seeing all parents (of one of you) there.

Zhuyin 3/12 Lesson 13

Dear Parents,
Lesson 13 has concluded all (37) Zhuyin symbols. I've handed out the complete Zhuyin symbol chart during dismissal. Here is the file.

  4. Practice the 3rd Midterm Exam Prep. (Exam Prep File HERE)
Additional Note: I'd like to do a retake for 3rd Midterm this Sunday 3/19 because the paper was not printed correctly. It'll be a review of Lesson 9 - 12, and I know most students are more than ready for it. I'd like to encourage everyone to attend the midterm because it will actually be a fun learning experience. The purpose it to help the children and myself to do a self-examination to see what has been working and what has not. It is an important step for me to know your child's learning pattern, so I could teach more efficiently. Please use this file as Exam Prep. The 3rd Midterm will be very similar to the prep.

Zhuyin 1/29 Lesson 9-11

Dear all,
In the past couple weeks, we've learned Lesson 9 through Lesson 11. We will revisit Lesson 10 and 11 because the lessons material focus a lot on Combined Vowels (結合韻母) which could be a little overwhelming and confusing for the children when they're just introduced the concept and sound.

Last week, we had a lot of fun playing the game: Draw a face. It is a challenge for young children to be blindfolded while drawing. I am so proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zone to join the game. This activity might be intimidating for some children while help others to build their confidence in an unseen way. I'm more than happy to hear your feedback on this activity.

Here is the chart of Zhuyin. The second chart is the Combined Vowels. In 2 more lessons, we'll complete all the learning of all Zhuyin characters and will continue the reinforcement until the rest of the year. Click here for the updated Zhuyin Chart.
